I have been reading a book called Eat, Nap, and Play as part of TLC Book Tours. On Monday, April 26th I’ll be posting a review of the book and hosting a giveaway. In the meantime, I’ve been reading, highlighting points I’d like to remember, and really enjoying this book!
Today I wanted to do something fun with the boys so I turned to Eat, Nap, and Play for some ideas (of which there are many). Homemade play dough! Of course! I haven’t made this stuff since Big Sister was an only child and it’s just so easy, but I had misplaced the recipe and just forgotten about it. Eat, Nap, and Play had the recipe, so Big Brother and I set to work. A perfect project for us to do together. It turned out well and he and Little Brother had a blast playing with it for about 30 minutes or so.

Ouch on the face. I love making homemade playdoh…it is so soft and fun to play with.
Hi it’s Evelyn, co-author of Eat, Nap, Play. Jenny, so glad you guys had fun with homemade play-do, Robyn’s “classic” recipe!
Hope everybody enjoys the simple, special times with the kids – it really (!) does not have to cost a ton to have a great, feel-good time with the little (and not so little) ones.
Enjoy the book and feel free to review!

I remember making play-doh. Now my kids are into making ice cream in Ziploc bags. (As long as it becomes something they can eat, they’ll make it!)

i love it! we just made some the other day, too…how simple, and so much fun! and hours of entertainment!
There are few things in life better than homemade play dough! I can tell a good time was had by all….
Using a dough hook is such a clever idea. I make a similar recipe from preschool but we put two packs of unsweetened koolaid (same flavor) in each batch and it makes it a bright color AND it smells good!
