Last Saturday Luke had a birthday party to attend. More importantly, it was a Captain America party! To say that Luke was excited is an understatement. I wanted to give the birthday boy a handmade gift, and I wanted it to be Captain America themed. Given how much my boys love their superhero shirts, I decided that maybe Luke’s friend would like a shirt too. I started looking for Captain America images and had one traced out…
…but I procrastinated and didn’t have enough time to execute it. I had to make something a little bit simpler. Luke thought he might like Captain America’s shield better anyway, so here is the shirt I ended up with:
Now to make the packaging fun. Instead of a plain old box or bag, I wanted to give Luke’s friend his gift in something that he could use again and again. I went to The Home Depot and got a simple silver bucket for $3.48 (just about the same price as a fancy gift bag). At Target I found duct tape by the sheet! I had no idea this even existed… exactly what I was looking for.
The birthday boy didn’t open his gifts at the party, so I didn’t get to see his face when he opened his gift. I’m waiting to see if he wears it to school tomorrow. I hope he likes it!
