Tutorial: Acorn Garland with Kate from See Kate Sew.

Guest days are my favorite days here at The Southern Institute.  There are so many others out there who are craftier than I!  That’s what I love about community… learning from each other.  Today Kate is joining us from See Kate Sew.  I have been privileged to be able to test the pop-up pleats camera strap cover pattern (highly recommend it) for Kate earlier this year and it’s still on my camera (much to my husband’s dismay).  Her blog is a great source of inspiration to me.  She also is another natural birthing mama and has a couple of quotes featured in my upcoming eBook, Unbound Birth: How to have a natural birth in a hospital.  She’s just an all around cool chick!  Please welcome Kate!

Hi there! I’m Kate from see kate sew! I am so happy to be here at the Southern Institute! Jenny and I have bonded quickly over sewing and natural birth. Two things that have nothing to do with each other! But anyways, thanks for having me Jenny!

diy acorn garland

I’ve been in the fall crafting mood lately. Fall screams felt to me. Or maybe felt screams fall.
It’s on sale right now, too. So I picked out some fall colors and then thought “acorns!”

So I made this little felt garland. It’s really easy!
All you have to do is cut out acorn top and bottom shapes and then sew them together!
Cut them all out. The bottom is a half oval and the top is a half circle with a stem.

Then layer the top of the acorn over the bottom…

…and send it through the machine.
Let the machine do 3 stitches before you put the next acorn into the machine so they will be a bit spaced.

Now go put it up! These little garlands look really cute draped over a photo frame on the wall.
Happy Fall!
