Tutorial: Anthropologie Style Zinc Letters with Lolly Jane Boutique!

It’s guest day at The Southern Institute, and I am so happy to welcome Kelli and Kristi today!  These sisters are so amazingly talented… I think they have about a million beautifully done tutorials on their blog, Lolly Jane Boutique.  Okay, that might be a tiny exaggeration, but you seriously need to check them out!  If you’ve ever clicked on one of their links at Creative Me Monday then you know what I mean.  Their home decor ideas are lovely and they have inspiration for every season, so if you’re still looking for Christmas project ideas, hop on over.  I’ll let them get right into their simple but very very cool tutorial.

Hi Southern Institute readers!
We’re happy to be here today, we love Jenny, she’s so sweet!

To introduce ourselves, we are twin sisters Kelli & Kristi of Lolly Jane, an eclectic craft blog filled with tutorials, home improvement tips, furniture revamps and a tasty recipe or two.

Today we’ll be showing you a cheap and easy knock off.  Perfect for year round decor or an inexpensive Christmas gift for your picky mother-in-law ;) Anthropologie created the cutest zinc letters.

What’s not-so-cute is their $18/EACH LETTER price tag. Yikes! Motivates you to make your own, right?  Well, we did… for only $5.39!

Supplies:

  • Local craftstore’s chipboard letters $1.99/each*
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Silver metallic paint
  • Bristle paintbrush
  • Sponge paintbrush

*I used a 40% off coupon, total was $5.39; everything else I already had

Directions:
1. Paint each letter black with sponge brush, covering the letter evenly.
2. After dry, lightly dry brush each letter with the silver metallic paint.
3. After you get the look you love, lightly distress edges black with sponge brush.

Easy right?
And you just saved almost $50 by Doing It Yourself!

We hope you enjoy your holiday season and would  for you to stop by our FB pagetweet with us or check out our Pinterest boards :)

XOXO,

Tie these up with a big red bow and they would be a great Christmas gift!  Thank you so much, Kelli and Kristi!  I always look forward to seeing what you come up with.  Your creativity has inspired me many times.

Don’t forget to link up your projects with Creative Me Monday!  You can link up through Saturday night for a chance to be the featured blog next week.  Come back tomorrow for another great giveaway too!
