Yes, that’s right! Thanks to all of you, and thanks to your generous spirits, we raised $700 (updated since I did the photo above) for Africa!!! Do you know what that means? Because of your compassion for the global community, people in Africa will have access to clean water for the first time!
Isn’t that exciting?
Thank you all so much for standing with me for people who can’t always stand up for themselves. This isn’t the end. People lack water all over the world.
In the month of September I will continue to work for this cause by partnering with other bloggers and Water.org. Together we are taking part in a 10 Day Challenge to raise awareness and money for the people of Haiti. Haiti holds a special place in my heart. Our family sponsors a young girl named Sandy who lives in Haiti. As you know, Hurricane Isaac has not been kind to that area recently, and I worry about Sandy’s family’s ability to access clean water. I’m excited to be able to partner with Water.org to help Sandy and the people of Haiti, many of whom were still living in makeshift tents since the earthquake hit not too long ago.
You’ll be hearing more from me in the next week concerning the 10 Day Challenge. My hope is that those of you who weren’t able to partner with me for Lemon:Aid might be able to help in September, either by donating or helping me spread the word! In the meantime, here is a great little video that my dear friend (and Southern Institute contributor) Caroline put together with her children…
