There’s this band here in Nashville by the name of Jars of Clay and they have this awesome non-profit called Blood:Water Mission. Their mission is to bring clean blood and clean water to Africa, and they need our help.
You see, 320 MILLION Africans lack access to clean, safe drinking water. Blood:Water Mission is doing all that they can, through a grassroots campaign made up of people like you and me, and guess what? It’s making a difference! To date, they have partnered with more than 1,000 communities in Africa, providing life-saving water and health care for over 600,000 people in 13 different countries.
The last couple of years Blood:Water Mission has held a fundraiser called Lemon:Aid.
All across the country, on August 20th, there will be children and adults who will make lemonade stands, and the money that they make will go to help provide clean, safe water to people just like you and me who live in another part of the world. It’s hard for us to imagine living where there is no clean water- where you must walk for miles just to find water (and it’s not clean) for your daily needs, then carry it back to your village. For many it is a daily task. I want to help by raising money so that Blood:Water can bring clean water to more villages who are in need. I want to make a Lemon:Aid stand too, so I decided to set mine up here at The Southern Institute! I’m hoping you all will show up, buy a nice cool glass of virtual lemonade (I make the best, you know), and help me raise some money for Blood:Water Mission.
My goal is to raise $1000!
I’m a little bit nervous that no one will show up, so I wanted to let you all know a little bit ahead of time. Maybe you’d be willing to give up that latte or diet coke for a few days (I know it will be tough!) and donate the money to this very worthy cause. We take clean water for granted when we don’t have to carry it for miles on our heads!
Will you please consider donating to Lemon:Aid on the 20th? Mark your calenders…I hope to see you there!
On August 20th you will be able to donate as little or as much as you can. I hope that you will find it in your hearts to partner with me and give generously to the people of Africa. If 100 of you donate $10 I will reach my goal! They need and deserve it so much! Thank you!
