10 Days 10 Lives Challenge with Water.org and The Mission List.

Clean Water.
10 days.
You and I can change 10 lives in just 10 days!

I am on a mission to help people around the world gain access to what we so casually take for granted each and every day, every second.  Clean water.  We have it in abundance in this country, and we forget that we are privileged, so very privileged to have clean water.  Last month you helped me raise almost $700 for Blood:Water Mission and the people of Africa and for that I am so truly and completely grateful…

…but the work is not over.

What we did last month is but a drop in the bucket when it comes to the global water issue.  Last month Haiti, one of the poorest countries on earth, was hit by Hurricane Issac.  Haiti, a country that had not yet recovered from the last earthquake that hit, was pounded by wind and rain, another natural disaster.  The people of Haiti need our help more than ever before and this time it’s personal to me.

Our family sponsors a 10 year old girl named Sandy through Compassion International.  Sandy lives with her father and mother, brother and sisters in Haiti.  Sandy and I have never met (I pray that we’ll get that chance some day), but I love her dearly.  I pray for Sandy and her family and worry about them right now, as I haven’t received a letter from her since the hurricane hit.  I have no idea if she has clean water right now, or even shelter.  But I know that I can help her by helping her country.

We can stand together and help the people of Haiti!  Will you stand with me?  Will you donate (you can give any amount)?

This month I am partnering with Water.org, founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, and The Mission List.  Here’s a great video about the work that Water.org is doing to bring clean water to countries in need, specifically in Haiti.

The joy on the faces of the people when they got that first glimpse of clean water pouring from the well is so moving.  I think Matt Damon was tearing up… I know I was!

Join with me in this effort to help the people of Haiti!  Click here to donate.  No amount is too small!  Tweet about it with this tweet:

Help bring clean water to Haiti with @SouthernInst, Water.org, and The Mission List! http://tinyurl.com/8ub247r #10days10livesTML

For the next 10 days I and several other bloggers will be posting about water and providing the link to donate within our posts and on our side bars… my hope is that you’ll help us reach our collective goal of $2500.

Thank you so much, dear readers!
