Change Your Clock Change Your Battery with Energizer!

Can you believe that November is right around the corner?  Did you realize that we turn our clocks back from Daylight Savings Time this Saturday night?  That’s right!  This November 4th also marks the 25th anniversary of the Energizer Change Your Clock Change Your Battery program.

I’m helping to get the word out about the importance of changing the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, because 38% of fatal fire injuries occur in homes with no smoke alarms, but as many as 24% occur in homes in which there is at least one smoke alarm present, but it doesn’t work correctly, either because of a missing or dead battery.  These are scary statistics, but we can change them!

Energizer and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) have partnered this month and are canvassing neighborhoods across the country distributing Energizer family safety products to families that need them.  Energizer has donated 250,000 batteries in honor of the 25th anniversary of this program!  Isn’t that amazing?

Is your home prepared?  Do you have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors?  I have a couple of ways that you can get involved with this program!

You can enter to win a Family Safety Kit!  Energizer sent our family a Family Safety Kit that included a reusable grocery tote containing:

  • One 2-pack of Energizer® MAX® Batteries (9v) with Power Seal Technology – Dependable, powerful performance for the devices that help keep your family safe; now hold their charge when stored for up to 5 years
  • One Energizer® Flameless Wax Candle – Enjoy the realistic flicker of a scented wax candle without the worry of open flame or hassle of soot and dripping wax
  • One Energizer® Weatheready® Safety Light – Waterproof flashlight powered by AA, AAA or C cell batteries; includes safety whistle and imprinted preparedness checklist
  • One Kidde Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm

This is a wonderful package that can mean the difference between life and death when put to use in your family’s home!  Please enter the giveaway to win by using the Rafflecopter widget at the end of the post.

You can also visit the Energizer Bunny® Facebook page and click on the Fire Safety Info Tab.  Here you will have the chance to enter a sweepstakes to win an additional Family Safety Kit.  In addition to all of the products mentioned above, this one comes with two flashlights, two flameless wax candles, and an Energizer plush bunny!  On their facebook page you’ll also find fire safety tips, a home escape plan that you can download and draw your family’s home escape plan, as well as a coloring and activity sheet.

Do the right thing for your family this weekend!
When you change your clocks, please remember to change you batteries too!

We don’t have a specific meeting place, but with my son now getting to be old enough to understand, we definitely need to do that.

  2. Beth T. says:

Yep. We are to congregate at our van, which is a safe distance from our house. In case the van is inaccessible, Plan B is to gather at our front gate; we’ve stored extra leashes there, just in case.

  3. Lisa Brown says:

No specific place, the house is small and the exit is know by all.

  4. Tami Vollenweider says:

We never really discussed a safe place to exit in case of a fire, but we really need to!

  5. kellie says:

we’ve never talked about it, but our house is small. we need to make an official plan though.

  6. Louis says:

we haven’t discussed it but we live on a small residential street, I don’t think we would get lost
