DIY: Mod Feathers Garland

Feathers are everywhere this Fall season and I’m loving seeing all the fun ways to incorporate this motif into every aspect of design. I’ve seen gorgeous headbands and bracelets, patterned feathers on fabric and curtains and today I’m making a garland of fun, “mod” feathers. Want to make one too? Hooray, let’s get started!

For this project you will need:

felt

scissors

twine, ribbon or string

Step 1

Cut the shape of feather from your felt then snip out a little notch in the top of the feather.

Step 2

Continue cutting snips in an alternating pattern on the feather shape. In the center of the feather snip out a middle line. You can do this by folding the leaf in half (think: how you fold paper to cut out a heart shape) then snipping a thin line from the middle fold.

Step 3

Once finished lay each feather aside, one by one. Snip two holes, side by side, in the top of each feather so you can thread your twine through.

Step 4

Thread your twine through each feather and Voila! You are done!

Now hang your funky and fun garland and shout “Hooray!”

The End.
