Colorful Clothes Hangers.

We have a mix of different clothes hangers in our house, some we bought because we needed hangers and some we received when buying clothes. They all have one thing in common – they are incredibly boring. Spray paint and a bit of imagination is going to put an end to that!

You’ll need dull and boring clothes hangers.
You’ll also need spray paint and masking tape.

1. When working with spray paint there are a few things to consider, especially if you want to include your kids in the process. Good ventilation is of great importance. We never spray paint indoors and even when we are outdoors the smell of the paint can be so strong you want to take a step back. Also remember never to use spray paint around things you cherish. The paint will never, ever come off. For further instructions read on your can before you start.

2. We had two different kind of hangers and we decided to decorate them in two different ways. The simple wood hangers we partially covered with masking tape to create different patterns. The cheap plastic hangers got decorated with pieces of Freja’s old toys, that way the worn out but loved toys get a second life.

3. Spray painting is one of Freja’s favorite things to do. Watching old and boring things come to life with new vivid colours is magic. The hangers are placed on newspaper covered trays, that way we can make a quick exit if the weather changes.

4. When the paint has dried then masking tape comes off. It’s now time for final decorations. The wooden hangers got decorated with colourful wool beads and the plastic ones got matching bows.

The once dreary plastic hangers are now colorful clothes hangers, brightening  up Freja’s room.

And my own wardrobe got a well needed colour boost. If you want more ideas on how to decorate hanger, please check out an early post of ours here.
