Love Mail.

Love is in the air here at The Southern Institute and we’ve been working on Valentine inspired projects.  We don’t really decorate the house for Valentine’s Day, but I do like to do a little something here and there to show my love for the holiday (pun intended).  Over the holidays the kids and I were at Michael’s and I came across a bunch of heart themed stamps in the dollar bin, so I snatched this one up (showing incredible restraint, mind you).  It sat on my desk for awhile.  Then the other day I thought of a great use for it!  I’ve been wanting to stamp on fabric, so I thought I’d give it a try with this little Love Mail project.  I posted the photo above on Instagram (see what you’re missing if you’re not following me on Instagram? ) as it was in progress.

It’s a super simple way to embellish a plain t-shirt.  I used a scrap of muslin, cutting two 4×6 pieces, then serging them together.  I stamped the heart stamp in the corner using pink fabric paint and let it dry.  I decided to get all fancy-schmancy and embroidered the word “love” instead of painting it on.  After that was done I stitched it onto a long-sleeved gray t-shirt for Abby.  I really love the way it turned out!

I can hardly believe how this girl is growing up!!  Where does the time go?  Being the crafty girl that she is, she loves it when I make things for her, so I’m gonna enjoy that while I can. :)

Stay tuned for more Valentine themed posts coming up in the next several days!  Have a great day!
