Shift dresses never go out of style. That’s one great things about a shift dress. The other great thing about a shift dress is that it’s a great beginner sewing project! The Go To Shift Dress from Go To Patterns is exactly what it’s called… this will become a go to pattern for your summer sewing. You will want to sew this little frock again and again. Little girls look adorable in them and they can be sewn in one day.
Something that’s nice about a pattern like this is that the style of dress makes it easy to modify the length. If your little girl is tall it’s simply a matter if adding an extra inch to the bottom of the pattern piece to lengthen the dress. This is something that I have to do often for my leggy nine year old daughter.
One of the details that I love about this particular shift dress is the armhole binding, if that’s what it’s called. Using bias tape inside of the armhole gives it such a lovely finish. I had never seen that done before and was so impressed! It’s a totally professional detail.
Add a cute belt for a whole new look!
I found the linen fabric in the clearance room of our local fabric boutique for 75% off and I just knew that it would be perfect for the Go To Shift Dress. It’s bright and summery, light and airy, and completely girly… without the pink. I can’t wait for it to warm up enough for Abby to wear it. Look at me! I actually got something sewn for spring and summer- ahead of time!!!
You can find the Go To Shift Dress pattern in the Sew Fab e-Pattern Bundle! It’s only available for one more day so hurry up and get your bundle! You’ll get 18 fabulous pdf patterns for just $24.95 and you’ll be ready for spring and summer sewing!
