I know you all are probably over winter by now, with the polar vortex wreaking havoc and all, but what if there was still a way to enjoy the rest of the winter? Because let’s face it, there’s still plenty of winter left, unfortunately.
You have probably seen me use the hashtag #creativemamas on Instagram and Facebook. It’s a hashtag for any creative mama to use when she’s posting a project, recipe, or whatever she has made. It’s a way to share what we are doing with each other and it’s a ton of fun. The original group of women who started it is the Creative Mamas Collective (which I am a part of) and we are determined to encourage women to be their best creative selves, to see that spark of creativity and ignite it. That’s why we came up with Handmade Winter. It’s a gorgeous (can I just say that?) eBook/eMag filled with recipes and projects that will make the rest of your winter so much more tolerable… lovely even!
I made this necklace last month. It’s one of the projects from the book, and it was so simple to make. It makes a statement though, don’t you think? I actually made a variation for my sister for Christmas with three skinnier chevrons. Each one represented one of her three children. She loved it! She couldn’t believe that I had made it, ha ha ha! I love it when that happens.
I threw this bracelet together yesterday while the kids were playing. Pretty cool! There are so many beautiful projects to try in Handmade Winter. I hope you’ll check it out. I contributed to the book, but you won’t find a beautifully photographed tutorial from me this time. I contributed an article that talks about how we can encourage our children to be other-centered and think outside of themselves. You can read a little bit more about the book here, but the giveaway is over…sorry! You can check out the rest of the book tour here too, on Flipboard, how cool is that?
Thank you so much for coming by The Southern Institute today! I hope you have a wonderful week. If you aren’t already, come connect with me on Instagram! I post there every day!
