Hi everyone!  Welcome to The Southern Institute!  I’m Jenny… wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend.  I’m a northern girl transplanted in the south, and I love it!  I did not grow up in a craftsy family.  My mom never sewed or did crafty projects, my grandmothers were not into handcrafting either.  When I discovered blogs, about three years ago, I was inspired by sewing tutorials that I saw and I thought, “I can do that”!  I got out my sewing machine, which hadn’t been used in years, and started sewing!  That was it for me, I was in love!  Now that DIY spirit has flowed into crafting as well.
The Southern Institute is a craft blog, a sewing blog, a food blog, a family blog, a place of inspiration for me and hopefully for you too.  It’s a place for me to write about the projects that I’m working on and share them with you, but it’s also a creative community where everyone has the opportunity to share what they have been working on.  This blog is for all of us!  Whether you’re a stay at home mom like me, or a single gal who loves to sew, or if you live halfway around the world, I would love for you to feel like you belong here.

Every once in awhile I throw in a giveaway for fun too.  Oh, and I love my camera, so you’ll find a lot of photos.  I just can’t help myself!
