Martha Stewart’s Favorite Crafts for Kids Giveaway!

Martha Stewart's Favorite Crafts For Kids ||

I know that those of you who have kids are always looking for fun projects to do with them.  I know this because I am!  I love to find new and fun projects that I think the kids would love, and when I find them in a beautifully photographed book such as Martha Stewart’s Favorite Crafts for Kids, then I’m that much happier.  This colorful book has 175 projects that are geared just for kids…

That’s a lot of projects!  And each one is sure to engage your children and create a wonderful opportunity for you to spend quality time with them.  My kids and I were really excited when our book arrived in the mail.  We started flipping through it and bookmarking the projects that we wanted to be sure to come back to.  One of them was the Monster Salt Crystals.

The boys love science experiments and thought that these crystals looked pretty cool.  I myself, have never tried growing crystals before, and we had all of the supplies on hand, so we decided to try it today.  Look at the lovely photographs from the book…

So we made our salt solution, tied our washer to the string and tied the string to our pencil.  The washer keeps the string straight so that the crystals can collect on it as the water evaporates.  We can’t wait to see what happens!

Martha Stewart's Favorite Crafts for Kids:

Martha Stewart and her team have done a wonderful job of putting together a resource for parents and their children that can be used for a long long time.  With 175 projects, you’d be hard pressed to be at a loss for a fun project to do this summer, or any time of the year!  Check out the  new crafts for kids video collection too.  You can watch the Monster Salt Crystals experiment in action as well as other videos of projects from the book.  It’s a lot of fun!

Carly Megan Shop review at

CARLYMEGAN on Etsy almost makes me wish that I was having another baby…almost.  Thank goodness my sister is pregnant and will be fulfilling my baby-holding cravings come November, LOL!  I started following Carly on Instagram awhile back when I saw a giveaway connected with her shop.  She was giving away an adorable women’s t-shirt that I pretty much loved instantly.  I started following her feed and realized that the bulk of her business is baby things… more specifically, these amazing organic baby leggings and organic baby blankets with fun and modern prints.

Aren’t you just dying over these antler leggings?

Not to mention the cute little model-oh my goodness!

Carly makes everything in her shop by hand in her workroom, and she’s just as sweet as can be.  She was nice enough to send me my very own Glasses T-Shirt, even though I didn’t win that giveaway I was talking about!  Let me tell you what, that t-shirt is getting some wear this summer…

How about a little giveaway?

Want to win one of these cute Glasses T-shirts for yourself?

The winner will get a handmade Glasses T just like mine, in the size of their choosing!

Presto Bingo Shapes Review and Giveaway!

I don’t know about your home, but in our home we have an iPad.  Okay, we have two iPads, and our kids like to play on them.  I can understand why!  I can’t imagine how amazing I would have thought an iPad was when I was a child.  The first time I used one as an adult I was blown away!  With a “toy” as cool as an iPad lying around, it’s important for us to set ground rules, one of them being time limits and the other being the types of apps that we download for the kids to play.

There is no shortage of apps available for preschool aged children… it’s incredibly overwhelming trying to figure out which are quality apps and which are the ones to avoid.  We make sure that the majority of the apps that we have on our iPad are educational, though we do have a few that are just plain entertaining.  We’ve downloaded free or “lite” apps only to grow very, very tired of the pop up ads that constantly appear.  On the other hand, I never know which apps are worth spending the $2-$5 on.

Presto Bingo Shapes is a puzzle and counting game for preschool to kindergarten kids, and it’s totally worth the $1.99 that you’ll spend on it. named it one of its Top 50 apps for 2012!  The app includes 16 beautiful puzzles that challenge young children to find shapes within colorful, cheerful, modern illustrations.

Joyce Hesselberth is the award-winning illustrator behind each of the 16, citrus-colored puzzles that make up the Presto Bingo Shapes app.  Each puzzle challenges the child to find as many of the shape that they are told to find.  Children see the shape that they are too find at the bottom of the page as well as seeing the word and hearing it too.  The narrator who gives the instructions has a kind voice  that is very friendly.

As your child finds and touches the shapes they are highlighted on the page, until all of the shapes have been found.  When all of the shapes have been found your child is praised for doing a great job!  Each puzzle reinforces counting up to the number 20 and there are nine different shapes altogether.  It’s perfect for the age level that it is marketed towards.  Some of the shapes are easily found, building instant confidence, while others are a bit more challenging.  I’ve even found myself scanning the picture over and over again, looking for that last triangle or square, LOL!  Levi really likes “playing” Presto Bingo Shapes and doesn’t even realize that he is learning.  The app is also available in a free “lite” version with four puzzles, but trust me when I say that it’s totally worth spending the $1.99 to get all 16 puzzles.  That’s just from one mom to another.
