Creative Me Linky Party.

The Southern Intitute

Welcome to the Creative Me Linky Party!  Whew, we made it through the holidays.  Are you as tired as I am?  Several nights in a row staying up after 1 am does not a happy Jenny make.  My body is screaming for rest, but it was all worth it.  We had such a fun Christmas as well as the weeks leading up to it.

What about you?  How was your Christmas?

I wonder how many of you stayed home like we did.  I love celebrating the season with family, but I also love staying home and avoiding the stress of traveling at this time of the year.

I’ve made a decision as we are heading into 2013…
no more Creative Me Linky Party after this week.

This is the last Creative Me Linky Party, so let’s finish off the year with a bang!  I’ve enjoyed being less tied to my computer this past couple of weeks so much that I just want to keep it going, so I’m eliminating anything that makes me feel like I have to post.  I won’t have  side bar advertising anymore either, just a few affiliates that I love.  This gives me the freedom to post when I want to… heck, I can even take two weeks off if I want and not feel like I’m disappointing anyone!  Does anyone else struggle with giving themselves a break?  I’m looking forward to a more relaxed year, more time spent with my children (and less with the laptop), and more time for sewing and creating.  I’m excited!

Thank you all for making the Creative Me Linky Party so much fun!  You are so amazingly creative and inspiring!  I want to continue to feature you all as members of The Southern Institute community, so I’ll be thinking of ways to make that happen.

In light of that announcement, the last Creative Me Linky Party featured blog of the week is First Comes Love.  Meghan linked up these scrumptious chocolate pecan caramels.  These look delicious and I love that she has her children involved in this family Christmas baking tradition.

This is my kind of treat!  Thanks for linking up with us last week, Meghan!

Now it’s your last chance to link up with Creative Me!  I love seeing what you all are up to.  Just a few guidelines for linking up.  Please:
  1. Follow The Southern Institute and display the Creative Me button somewhere in your post or on your blog.
  2. Don’t have anything new?  Show us something from your archives…old to you is new to us!
  3. You can link up as many things as you’d like.
  4. Visit at least two other blogs and leave some comment love.  We are a community that supports one another, right? Right?
  5. You can link up your shops as long as you sell handmade goods.  (I also have advertising and sponsored posts available here on the blog if you’re interested.)

Don’t forget to grab and proudly display the “featured” button if you’re project has been featured at The Southern Institute.

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Creative Me Linky Party where you share your creative side and inspire others to be creative too!  It has been a really busy week around these parts, and I’m wondering…

Do the holidays bring out your “Creative You” or do they suck all of your creative energy?

I’m afraid I am tending towards the latter this year.  I am the craft blogger that does not have her mantle beautifully decorated (GASP!).  I haven’t made a bunch of beautiful decorations for the house, and I haven’t been baking up a storm.  I’ve been taking care of sick kids, teaching childbirth classes one night a week, trying to keep up with all of the extra practices and programs that come at this time of the year, and squeezing in Christmas shopping without the kids whenever I can.  So there hasn’t been much time to be creative.  My mantle is decorated with a string of lights haphazardly thrown over the framed picture hung over our fireplace, a lovely daily advent calender from Dayspring, and a toy Santa riding a little wooden horse.  Totally random.

But my favorite decoration on the mantle and one of my most treasured Christmas possessions is a little pink wooden tree, decorated with glitter and sequins, that my dad made for his mom when he was a little boy in Boy Scouts.  He gave it to me a few years ago, and it always sits where everyone can see it.  It’s so special to me because I know how proud he must have been when he gave her that tree and I can imagine, because I have felt this way myself, how much love filled her heart when she took it from his eager little hands.

I hope that you have one of those holiday treasures in your home.  The one that warms your heart and holds special memories for you.

This week’s featured blog is Piggy In Polka Dots who shared Bowling Cupcake Toppers… which I love!  Cupcake toppers are so much fun.  Abby had a bowling party for her 5th birthday party (before I was crafting and blogging) and I wish I would have had some of these for the cupcakes!  They are adorable.  Thanks so much for linking up with Creative Me last week, Piggy!

Now it’s your turn to share your projects with us this week!  Here are the guidelines for the Creative Me link up, I’d love it if you’d play along nicely. :)

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to the Creative Me Linky Party!  I know you’re all busy and I appreciate you linking up with this linky party.  It’s that time of year when things are CRAZY busy.  I’m right there with you, which is why you haven’t seen me posting many projects here… there’s just not enough time in the day to sit down and get things done!  I admire those of you who can carve out the time to sit and be creative during this time of the year.  You are awesome!

I want to be sure that you don’t miss the Fat Quarter Shop giveaway, through Tuesday night!  We’re giving away a jelly roll, valued at $39, so don’t miss the chance to win!

This week’s featured blog is The Life of CK and Nate!  Cassandra linked up a recipe for a gluten free Cranberry Orange Cheesecake!  Ah, a girl after my own heart!  Since we have been almost completely gluten free I am always on the lookout for good gluten free recipes.

This will be going on my “to make” list!  Thanks for linking up with the Creative Me linky party, Cassandra!

Now it’s your turn to link up all of your holiday goodies and projects!  Please take a minute and visit one or two other blogs and leave them an encouraging comment.  I was so happy to see that almost every link last week was visited, but still a few didn’t get any visitors. :(

Have a wonderful week!  Don’t let the business of the season steal your joy!  Remember what this time of year is all about and what it means to you.  Take a few minutes here and there throughout your day to count your blessings.  Sip a hot cocoa, with marshmallows!  Pick up the phone and call a loved one or friend, instead of texting or emailing.  Make someone smile this holiday season.

Love to you all!
